Jan Hvizdal

My name is Jan and I'm from the Czech Republic. I've spent the last ten years exploring unusual corners of our amazing planet. I have visited dozens of countries and all continents, but my heart feels best in Scandinavia and the polar regions. The work that has shaped me has been dogsledding in Canada and especially in Arctic Svalbard. I spent a wonderful five years there as a wilderness guide and to this day the landscape fascinates me with its wildness and purity. I currently work as an expedition photographer for Hurtigruten Expeditions, a Norwegian company where we try to bring the beauty of remote places to our guests. Our ships are in Spitsbergen, Antarctica, Greenland, Norway, Arctic Canada and Alaska.
My greatest passions are nature photography, photographing animals in their natural habitat and of course dogs. I have been using KOWA binoculars for the last five years and they are a daily tool in my work. I especially appreciate their sharpness and craftsmanship.
